Independently performs the accounting function in the Shared Services department and fully utilizes relevant company policies, systems, accounting related concepts to support business processes and provide additional experience with Caterpillar accounting practices. Advises other colleagues in problem solving, training new employees, etc. Independently leads projects.
JOB DUTIES:
From the outset, the Sr. Shared Services Accountant will be expected to be a contributing performer, performing assigned accounting work that supports business processes.
Main areas of responsibility include:
Ensure that the T&E policy is respected;
Timely review of submitted reports in XM;
Manual and automatic processing of documents (invoices, expense reports, credit cards etc.) in accordance with internal policies and guidelines
Automatic and manual payment process, plus bank statements booking
Support month end closing activities and preparation of the GL account reconciliation
Prepare advanced monthly reports and assist with KPIs preparation
Conducting regular reviews of policies and procedures
Lead projects and assist process improvement
Providing on the job training and guidance to new colleagues and internal customers
Supporting Team Leaders and supervisors to be able to act as deputy in their absence
The most significant challenges in the position include preventing double payments, uncorrected liabilities, unmatched payments resulting in open entries, or unidentified invoices.
The Senior Shared Services Accountant must demonstrate technical expertise in their respective accounting area and the ability to solve accounting problems independently. Demonstrates good communication skills and has advanced knowledge of Caterpillar's business, products, suppliers and customers. Also possesses the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy, analytical and basic project management skills in order to manage accounting projects or processes.

What do we expect from a suitable candidate?
High school diploma is required
Courses in accounting preferred
English is a must, other languages are advantageous (depending on the supported entities)
Min 1 year experience in finance related area.
Must demonstrate initiative, leadership, and the ability to communicate effectively.
