We are looking for a DevSecOps Engineer with hands-on experience on CI/CD at scale with GitLab and K8s to work at EUMETSAT premises in Darmstadt, Germany.

This key role will not only allow you to guide, advise and support the client in its security systems, but with a broad variety of tasks and topics to investigate, to also develop your own specialisation, with your own research’s, curiosity and self-motivation.

About the client and location

The European Organisation for the Exploration of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) is a political organisation comprising 30 European member states. EUMETSAT operates satellites to monitor weather, climate, and the changing environment. They are responsible for helping to isolate potentially dangerous weather conditions that could affect air travel, farming and other key service industries.

Tasks and activities

The scope of work will include:

Delivering expertise and consulting in scope of DevSecOps implementation at EUMETSAT, including assessment of current practices and gap analysis.

Implementing security best practices and their effective and efficient integration into CI/CD pipelines and workflows in scope of the entire development lifecycle.

Effective integration of Security Facility solutions (Vulnerability Scanning, XDR, Privileged Access Management, Secrets Management and logging) into CI/CD pipelines.

Automating the compliance verification in scope of DevSecOps implementation.

Defining DevSecOps working practices and documentation, including secure-by default pipeline templates and security gates.

Knowledge transfer and training sessions for development and operations teams.

Interacting with stakeholders, including developing project teams, Quality Assurance and Security teams.

Skills and experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

University Degree or equivalent in a relevant field.

At least 5 years of experience with CI/CD at scale with GitLab and K8s with focus on security.

Experience integrating security solutions in CI/CD pipelines, including development of pipeline templates and security gates

Knowledge of container security (e.g., Aqua, Trivy, Twistlock, etc.).

Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.

Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.

Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:

Experience securing Terraform, Ansible or Helm charts.

Familiarity with SAST, DAST, IaC and dependency scanning tools (e.g. SonarQube).
