Working on the Customs Cryogenic Systems team: What makes this Lake Shore team unique?
You can expect to gain hands-on experience supporting the design, development, manufacturability, and testing of cryogenic systems and components, which may include projects like: * Modifying and enhancing Janis product line components, such as the ST-400 and VPF-100 systems.
* Designing transfer lines and custom accessories tailored to standard Janis products.
* Assisting in the development of full custom cryogenic solutions, utilizing closed-cycle refrigerators and cryogenic fluids.
* Supporting the cryogenic probe station product line, including creating custom accessories and designing probe station arms compatible with legacy Janis systems.
* Contributing to specialized system builds, such as MagRS and 8400 HMS, which require unique configurations and integration.

General Duties: * Designing mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
* Creating detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for manufacturing.
* Performing engineering calculations and simulations using ANSYS and SolidWorks tools.
* Supporting rapid prototyping and fabrication techniques including additive manufacturing, welding, and adhesives.
* Selecting materials based on thermal, magnetic, and vacuum compatibility.
* Preparing technical documentation including schematics, BOMs, and test plans.
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Sales, and Marketing.
* Participating in peer reviews and reporting results to internal and external stakeholders.
What We're Looking For * Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or a related field.
* GPA of 3.0 or higher.
* Exposure to and willingness to learn SolidWorks.
* Exposure to FEA and willing to learn.
* Experience with design for manufacturability and exposure to manufacturing environments.
* Interest in cryogenics, thermal systems, or precision instrumentation.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
* Commitment to confidentiality and professional integrity.
