Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in human resource management, organizational management, business or public administration, or a related field; two years of experience in a Human Resources environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of human resources administration; of pertinent federal and state laws and regulations. Ability to provide guidance and direction pertaining to applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures for assigned human resource function(s); to interpret, apply and explain human resources policies and procedures; to exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality in sensitive and confidential information, records and reports; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. This position is considered Critical Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug testing and alcohol testing. The use of illegal drugs, and/or the use of medical marijuana for this position is prohibited. Employees must not consume or be under the influence of alcohol while on duty, on work premises, or operating agency equipment. This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check. Must be a US citizen or be a lawful permanent resident eligible for naturalization.

Duties

Process various personnel actions with accuracy in accordance with established procedures and deadlines. Maintenance of personnel files to include scanning of documents with managing software. Coordinates and schedules fingerprinting appointments for volunteer coach identification cards. Fingerprint citizens for volunteer coach identification cards, Fire & EMS volunteer clearance, and Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) access. Verifies identification documents and ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local background check requirements. Maintains accurate fingerprinting and clearance records in accordance with CJIS and department policies. Assist in processing background checks for employment, volunteer, and contractor applicants. Answer and direct incoming calls to appropriate division personnel. Performs other work as needed. This position is part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience.
