Associated British Ports (ABP) is looking for a dedicated and safety-conscious Deckhand to join our Humber Estuary Services team. If you thrive in dynamic environments, be able to adapt to situations, love the water, and want to be part of a tight-knit crew delivering essential marine services 24/7, this is your moment.
️ What You’ll Do
Support the safe navigation and operation of pilot launches including lookout duties
Ensure the safety and welfare of crew, passengers, and equipment onboard and ashore
Assist with mooring, emergency response, and pilot embarkation/disembarkation
Maintain vessel cleanliness and readiness
Keep accurate logs and conduct emergency drills
Report sea and weather conditions to Vessel Traffic Services
Train for progression to senior launch crew roles
What You’ll Bring
Essential:
Full driving licence
ENG 1 seafarers’ medical certificate or be physically fit to pass the requirements.
Willingness to train and develop to meet the basic STCW requirements for a deckhand
Resilience in all weather and sea conditions
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Computer literacy
Ideal Extras:
STCW95 Basic Fire Fighting & Personal Survival Techniques
RYA Power Boat Level 2 or higher
VHF Radio Operator Certificate
First Aid certification
Experience on workboats, pilot boats, fishing vessels, or Royal Navy
