Project Delivery Director - Norway Frigate Programme
We currently have an opportunity for a Project Deliver Director – Norway Frigate Programme.
As Project Deliver Director – Norway Frigate Programme you will be responsible for leading the Capture and Mobilisation of the >£6B Norway Frigate project, from a successful preferred bidder announcement, through to securing the Manufacturing Contract and into the main delivery phase. The role will be part of the Future Business & Technology Leadership Team through to the Type 26 Batch 3 Contract Award, when it will transition to the UK Shipbuild Programmes team.
The Norway frigate Project is a very significant and strategically important export contract for the company and for the UK. The position holder will lead the internal Naval Ships teams working to secure and deliver the project and will have significant interaction with both UK and Norwegian customer and industry senior stakeholders, representing the company and ensuring the BAE System’s strategic objectives are maintained and delivered.
As Project Delivery Director you will develop and lead discussions on the Contract Quality Offer, supporting contract negotiations, delivering the Supply Chain solution, managing any product change and establishing any Norway required performance reporting with the UK MOD and Norway. The role will also lead our Norway-facing activity in Norway, working with the Industrial Collaboration team, advisors and other stakeholders.
As a member of the Naval Ships FB&T leadership team this role will significantly influence the overall strategy, planning and successful delivery of our future bids, programmes and technology projects.
Your main responsibilities as Project Delivery Director:
· Lead the capture activities for the Norway Frigate project, including the development of cost, schedule and requirements baselines
· Develop, set and implement the overall strategy for the Norway frigate programme mobilisation and route to contract
· Lead the negotiation and award of deliverable contracts for project Mobilisation activities and the Manufacturing Contract
· Lead the mobilisation of the Norway Frigate project through the early lifecycle phases, setting the project up for success, setting the execution strategy and delivering early phase outputs
· Deliver agreed product change outputs for any changes requested by the customer
· Lead the engagement and negotiation with the Supply Chain to secure beneficial supplier contracts with a total value of c£3Bn and to meet the shipbuild schedule
· Lead the interface between Norway and the Type 26 Programme, working closely with the Programme Director - UK Shipbuild Programmes, and the UK Shipbuild Programmes PMO
· Lead all customer (UK and Norway) and business contract/ performance reporting during the Mobilisation phase, working closely with the Type 26 Programme Management Office
· Support and collaborate with the Industrial Collaboration (IC) team in the International Programmes Director area, and across the wider BAE Systems, to ensure the Norway IC requirements and commitments are being delivered, and to ensure consistent reporting and messaging to our customers.
· Have direct Line Management of the Norway Capture and Mobilisation team (7 to 9 direct reports, approx. 25 to 100 direct team as Project mobilises and grows).
Your skills and qualifications:
· At least 10 years’ experience in defence or manufacturing business with proven track record of leading teams across complex programmes; leading projects and delivering to time, quality and cost; and of managing complexity, risks and uncertainty.
· Experience of working as a member of a programme leadership team with delivery accountability.
· High level of understanding of cost estimates, contracting, project management and programme integration in a complex programme environment.
· Good knowledge of early phases of programme lifecycle desirable.
· Strong experience of People Management and leading multi-discipline teams.
· Strong experience of managing and working with customers, external partners and suppliers
