BASIC FUNCTIONS:
In a learner capacity and under the direct supervision of a District Representative, the District Intern will be responsible for general office duties including shadowing staff at community engagements, attending district meetings and events, learning about the Senate certificates and constituent response processes, assists with policy and community research, and connecting with local representatives and community leaders. Applicants must be organized, detailed, and able to work well with others.
DUTIES:
In a learner capacity and under the direct supervision of a District Representative, the ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced, professional environment and assist with constituent services as needed.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong oral and written communication skills are essential in addition to proficiency with Microsoft Office and PCs. Familiarity with legislative culture and process is preferred.
Interns are expected to commit to a term from January to May, contributing 16 to 24 hours per week.
LOCATION, SALARY AND FILING DATE:
This position is located in Chula Vista, CA.
The Senate's core business hours are 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. However, scheduling for interns may need to be more flexible depending on the office needs.
This internship is unpaid; college credit is available upon request.
No benefits provided with this classification.
