Job Summary
The RN-Pediatrics provides direct and indirect nursing care for pediatric patients from newborn through adolescence. This role includes comprehensive assessment, care planning, intervention, and evaluation in a family-centered care environment. The RN works collaboratively with the healthcare team and families to support optimal health outcomes for children while considering developmental, emotional, and cultural needs.
Essential Functions
Performs assessments and develops individualized plans of care for pediatric patients
Administers medications, treatments, and performs clinical procedures
Monitors patient conditions and communicates findings to the healthcare team
Supports daily activities including nutrition, hygiene, ambulation, and elimination
Provides age-appropriate education to patients and families
Ensures accurate documentation of care in accordance with organizational standards
Responds to and manages clinical emergencies effectively
Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care and discharge planning
Adheres to infection control, safety protocols, and ethical standards of care
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations
Demonstrated ability to provide developmentally appropriate care
Critical thinking and sound clinical judgment under pressure
Effective communication and interpersonal skills with children, families, and colleagues
Proficiency in electronic medical records and healthcare technologies

Qualifications
Education
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), required
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), preferred
Licenses/Certifications
Current and valid Registered Nurse license in the state of practice
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within the time frame specified in facility policy
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within the time frame specified in facility policy
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), preferred
Experience
Previous pediatric or neonatal nursing experience preferred
12-lead ECG, preferred
