Family Ministry Director/Pastor - Full Time

I. PURPOSE:
The Family Ministry Director will cast vision and lead of our families at IAC with a current focus on our Sunday Inreach CM program as well as our Jr. and Sr. High ministries. Further, the Family Ministry Director will coordinate with the outreach CM director. They will lead our CM and YM volunteers through love, encouragement and service, all while providing leadership vision for games, curriculum and events for our kids K-12. The Family Ministry Director will relate closely to the Lead Pastor (verbal/written reports) and the secretarial staff to assure a coordinated and united approach to ministry. They will submit a written report monthly to the Governing Board and will work within the parameters set by the Lead Pastor and the Governing Board.
II. QUALIFICATIONS:
The Family Ministry Director/Pastor will have a sense of call to children and youth ministry and the position.
The Family Ministry Director/Pastor will possess or be developing the following:
A commitment to Christ as Lord and Savior and to spiritual growth.
A teachable spirit, desiring to grow as a person and as a leader.
An ability to be a team leader by involving others in planning and decision-making.
A firm loyalty to the C&MA, it's distinctive in doctrine and mission.
C&MA credentials, or willingness to work towards them.
The Youth Ministry Director will have a minimum of a degree in a ministry related field or an equivalent program of study.
III. EXPECTATIONS:
The Family Ministry Director will serve in a full-time position for 45 hours a week, unless for a special event, where more time may be required.
The Family Ministry Director will attend to their own spiritual growth and will be expected to serve with the highest standards of Christian Integrity.
The Family Ministry Director will pray for the youth and seek the Lord's will for the ministry.
The Family Ministry Director will be expected to attend:
Weekly church services
Weekly staff meetings (as available).
Church-wide outreach events
IV. RESPONSIBILITIES (YOUTH):
The Family Ministry Director will lead the Youth Leadership Team and take steps to develop a positive relationship with the students and their families and effectively minister to the youth attending IAC and within the community.
The Family Ministry Director will:
Give general oversight to on-going youth ministries and, as possible, include the Lead Pastor, Youth Leadership Team and others in decision-making, planning and implementation.
Run a mid-week Jr. High youth group, which includes but is not limited to: worship, games and a Bible-centric talk
Run a Sunday night Sr. High youth group, which includes but is not limited to: games and a Bible-centric talk (can be the same as Wednesday night, or slightly altered for older group)
Meet regularly with the Lead Pastor and talk vision, year-long plans for talks, events etc.
Regularly evaluate the IAC youth ministry in meeting the spiritual, emotional, and social needs of a healthy Christian teenager.
Develop an annual large-group youth outreach
Develop mentoring relationships with the youth, personally and through training of others.
Motivate and educate youth in developing a missionary vision (locally and globally) with an emphasis on Alliance Missions.
Direct the Youth Leadership Team and Student Leadership Team in planning and overseeing special events, service projects, retreats, camps, and summer trips. (Emphasis/priority will be given to C&MA events especially "LIFE").
Work with the Youth Leadership Team to recruit and train volunteer workers and leaders (obtaining prior approval of candidates through the Governing Board).
Maintain regular communication with students and parents and convey news about activities and programs to students, parents and the congregation.
Be available to the youth and their parents to listen and provide counseling (conferring with the Lead Pastor regarding difficult circumstances).
Attend some personal student games, plays, recitals and special events.
Participate in the preparation of the Annual Budget related to expenditures involved in the areas of youth ministry.
Help at Church-Wide outreach events
Monitor expenditures to assure they are kept within the accepted budget.
Provide a quantitative and qualitative report for IAC Annual Reports.
RESPONSIBILITIES (CM):
Ministry Areas:
Nursery through Grade 5 during Sunday Morning
Special needs children
Serves both as a CM teacher from time to time (when and where needed) as well as coordinator for the schedule
Oversight pertaining to: staffing, curriculum, education training, background checks, supplies
Recruit people who agree with IAC vision statement to serve
Submit potential volunteer names to Lead Pastor for approval along with curriculum selection
Seek to work for the volunteers and not see them as working for you
Keep congregation informed of children's ministries within IAC
Encourage and support the children's ministry team
Submit a budget to the Lead Pastor and board annually (worked on with Outreach Coordinator)
Maintain all background checks in a secure manner and ensure all volunteers are up to date
Maintain all background checks in a secure manner (Planning Center) and ensure all volunteers are up to date (do this for Outreach as well)
Have a vision and passion for leading and equipping children in service for Christ.
Seek to foster strong interpersonal relationships with children and their families.
Provide written/verbal reports as requested
Any other duties requested of Lead Pastor or Elder board
V. AMENABILITY:
The Family Ministry Director will serve under the supervision of the Lead Pastor.
The Family Ministry Director will serve at the pleasure of the Governing Board.
Position Hours / Financial Package:
Full-Time: 45+ Hours a week
Salary between $45,000-50,000 (depending upon education and experience)
Benefits: Health insurance and a $2,500 HRF (Health Reimbursement Fund)
