Under the direction of the Board of Supervisors, plan, organize, coordinate, control and direct the activities, services and operations of Public Works; direct the design, construction and maintenance of County roads, facilities, bridges and solid waste disposal sites; oversight of the County parks division; operation of the special water and sewer districts; direct the professional civil engineering work conducted by the County; serves as Road Commissioner; establish departmental priorities and policies and assure compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, public or business administration or related field and five years administrative or managerial engineering experience in the design, construction and maintenance of roads, including at least two years in a supervisory capacity.

Experience with design, construction and maintenance of other public facilities such as solid waste, sewer, storm collection, potable and waste treatment and bridges is highly desirable but not required.

Valid California Driver's License.

A valid driver's license may be required at the time of appointment and employees may also be required to drive their own vehicle and provide proof of liability insurance as per Vehicle Code VC § 160020.

This position may require pre-employment drug test, physical examination, and fingerprinting for a background investigation.
