Job Description

ADM Health & Wellness (H&W) is seeking a passionate leader to take on the responsibility of EMEA Regulatory and Scientific Affairs for our innovative portfolio of microbiome-based (pre/pro/post-biotics) and other health-regulated ingredients.

Your Impact:

Ensure Safety & Compliance: Lead the charge in ensuring the safety, efficacy, and regulatory compliance of ADM's H&W ingredient portfolio.

Regulatory Expertise: Oversee regulatory dossier development, submission, ingredient/product approvals, and post-market surveillance to meet the highest standards.

Drive Innovation: Inform innovation and enable market access, helping ADM H&W grow and thrive in a fast-evolving landscape.

Strategic Collaboration: Partner with commercial teams to develop and implement regulatory strategies that open doors to new opportunities.

Leadership Excellence: Provide guidance to a team of direct reports, fostering capability development, capacity management, and top-tier performance.

Main responsibilities:

INGREDIENTS (EMEA Scope)

Define and implement the regulatory initiatives for ingredient approvals in line with regional and national laws and requirements.

Manage and coordinate H&W ingredient regulatory compliance and strategic support for microbiome-based food supplements and other health-regulated ingredients and products within EMEA.

Monitor and evaluate applicable changes in the microbiome and health-ingredient regulatory environment, assess potential business impact and cascade key implications to commercial teams.

Support EMEA H&W Director to integrate commercial and brand plans into regulatory strategies, enabling regional roll-out in cooperation with other regional regulatory teams.

Communicate regularly with internal account managers. Lead the development and communication of ADM H&W positions on microbiome and health-ingredient regulatory topics.

Contribute to the development of internal regulatory SOPs, platforms, and documentation standards.

Support due diligence activities in the context of M&A, partnerships, and business development initiatives.

Provide coaching and leadership within the H&W regulatory team to foster consistency, efficiency, and regulatory excellence.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize regulatory processes, systems, and delivery to internal and external customers.

Conduct regulatory gap assessments, ensure alignment with EU and UK regulatory requirements, and monitor changes impacting the portfolio.

Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g. R&D, Sales, Marketing, Legal) to support innovation, market access, and lifecycle management.

Lead regulatory risk assessments and propose mitigation plans aligned with business and regulatory expectations.

Act as the primary regulatory contact for EMEA manufacturing sites, ensuring documentation and practices are aligned with applicable legislation.

Maintain and oversee the RSA Health & Wellness regulatory databases for EU and UK, supporting documentation lifecycle, change control, and stakeholder access.

Represent ADM in trade associations and regulatory forums, particularly in the field of biotics (prebiotics, probiotics, postbiotics), contributing to regulatory intelligence and positioning.

Translate regulatory trends and developments into actionable guidance to enable compliance and business opportunities.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT & TALENT DEVELOPMENT

May lead and manage a small team of regulatory professionals supporting pharmaceutical products and microbiome-based food supplements.

Set individual business aligned regulatory objectives, conduct regular performance feedback, coaching, and development planning.

Foster a collaborative team environment, encouraging accountability and continuous learning for both technical and soft skills.

Act as a role model for regulatory leadership, promoting excellence, integrity, and constructive communication within the team, broader organization and commercial engagement

Qualification and Experience:

Master’s degree in Nutrition, Biotechnology, or a related field. PhD degree a plus.

7+ years of experience in regulatory affairs within biotics and/or health ingredients.

Proven experience managing regulatory submissions.

Strong understanding of EMEA regulatory frameworks, including EFSA, Novel Food regulations, and Nutrition & Health Claims legislation.

Experience in regulatory advocacy and industry representation desirable.

Experience in team leadership, people management, or mentoring is desirable.

Strong organizational, attention to detail, communication, and strategic planning skills, with ability to operate cross-functionally and at various levels of the organization.

Hands-on experience with regulatory systems, RIMS, and documentation platforms is a plus.
