Your Impact
This role is part of our newly created Technical Applications Group (TAG), led by our Director of Process Improvement. TAG reports directly to our CEO. Inovata Foods has an ambitious capital plan that is focused on further solidifying their market leadership and positioning its facilities for the next phase of growth and quality leadership.
As Food Process Engineer, you will:
Be a key contributing member to TAG. TAG is responsible for increasing Inovata Foods’ capacity and quality through CAPEX and optimizing equipment & manufacturing processes. This role will be involved in both aspects of TAG but focus on activities related to CAPEX.
Directly Participate in Equipment Selection: Evaluate, recommend, and specify new manufacturing equipment to support production growth and efficiency.
Project Manage Installations: Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of equipment installation projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and safety standards are met.
Vendor & Stakeholder Collaboration: Work directly with equipment suppliers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Continuous Improvement: Support ongoing optimization of equipment, processes to maximize throughput and product quality as well as support Inovata’s operations team in the maintenance and refinement of our ongoing bottleneck analysis process.
What You Bring:
Education & Credentials
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (required)
Project management experience in a manufacturing environment (required)
Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement experienced (preferred)
Diploma, certificate or extensive experience with AutoCAD & Excel (required)
Diploma, certificate or extensive experience with programing languages used with PLCs and HMIs (preferred)
Core Technical Skills
Process optimization: Analyze and improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs
Equipment selection & specification: Evaluate, specify, and recommend production equipment, including automation and robotics
Project management: Manage capital projects, including equipment installation, commissioning, and vendor coordination
Data analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret production data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
Quality assurance: Knowledge of quality control systems and procedures to ensure products meet safety and regulatory standards
CAD & engineering software: Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for facility and equipment layout
Continuous improvement: Implement Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies to drive ongoing process improvements
Production planning: Understand production scheduling, workflow optimization, and capacity planning
Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for manufacturing processes, equipment specifications, and standardized work procedures
Safety & compliance: Knowledge of health and safety regulations, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and hygiene compliance in food manufacturing
Technical communication: Communicate technical information clearly to cross-functional teams, vendors, and plant personnel
Preferred Skills
Experience with food manufacturing equipment (e.g., depositors, volumetric fillers, combination scales, cartoners, case packers, robotics, conveyors, packaging machinery)
Familiarity with supply chain concepts, material flow, and logistics
Experience with statistical process control and root cause analysis
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project and/or other project management software

Working Conditions
This position is based on-site at our Tillsonburg, Ontario facility.
Occasional extended working hours may be necessary to meet project deadlines.
Occasional travel to our Edmonton, AB facility will be required.
