Environmental Compliance Lead
Location: Project Site, BC
Rotation: 10/4 or 14/7
Introduction
We are seeking an Environmental Compliance Lead to join a major project in British Columbia. Reporting to the HSEC Manager, this role ensures all project activities adhere to environmental laws, regulations, and standards. The successful candidate will support site operations by monitoring compliance, conducting audits, preparing reports, and coordinating with internal teams to promote environmental stewardship and sustainability initiatives.
Responsibilities
Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and municipal environmental regulations.
Conduct regular environmental audits and inspections across project facilities and operations.
Maintain and update environmental permits, records, and related documentation.
Develop and implement environmental policies, procedures, and training programs.
Coordinate waste management, hazardous materials handling, and pollution prevention strategies.
Investigate environmental incidents and assist in developing corrective and preventive actions.
Prepare and submit regulatory reports (e.g., emissions, waste, and water usage).
Liaise with regulatory agencies and respond to inquiries or inspections as required.
Support sustainability and continuous improvement initiatives.
Stay current with changes in environmental legislation, standards, and best practices.
Collaborate with community and engagement teams to ensure compliance with project commitments.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
2–5 years of experience in environmental compliance or a related field.
Strong knowledge of environmental regulations (e.g., CEPA, BC Environmental Management Act).
Proven experience in environmental audits, permitting, and regulatory reporting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and environmental management systems.
Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Professional certification (e.g., EP, CHMM, or similar) considered an asset.
Experience working within heavy industrial or large-scale project environments.
Familiarity with ISO 14001 or equivalent environmental management systems.
Strong planning, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
Team-oriented with a proactive, adaptable approach.
Demonstrates leadership in health, safety, and environmental protection.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driver’s abstract required.
