Independence Center (IC) is an internationally recognized, community-based behavioral health organization for adults in St Louis living with a mental illness. Working with Adults only ages 18 and older

Team dynamic: We have 2 Therapists currently that are part of the Independence Center Clinic-which is in the lower level of Independence Center and they will conduct 1:1 sessions and possible group sessions

Location: BJC Independence Center (on-site only)

Ideal Skill Set: Preference would be to have Therapy experience and trained in an evidence-based practice like CBT, DBT, Trauma-Focused CBT, EMDR, etc.

Compassion for working with both Youth and Adults to help them better their life, flexible, able to document timely, ability to adapt to change, willing to work in a team setting is a MUST

Job responsibilities: This position will provide Therapy to Adult clients. The severity of issues that clients will have, will vary in type and acuity – we work with serious and persistent mental illness

Example of a typical Day: Start at 8:30 am; Team Huddle at 8:45 AM. In an 8.5 hour day (M - Th) - the goal is 7 hours of therapy. You will have 30 minutes of documentation time on the front of the day and 30 minutes of documentation time at the end of the day and 30 minutes for lunch

Must be Fully licensed in MO – LPC or LCSW only (unable to hire provisionally licensed at this time)

Overview

BJC Behavioral Health is a community health center that provides and coordinates behavioral health services for more than 8,000 seriously mentally ill adults and seriously emotionally disturbed children in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. François, Iron and Washington counties. As an Administrative Agent of the Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH), BJC Behavioral Health serves as a major point of entry for people eligible for mental health services funded by DMH and is responsible for serving as gatekeeper to the public mental health system.

Role Purpose

The Behavioral Health Therapist works with individuals, families, and groups to address and treat mental & emotional disorders, and to promote optimal mental health.

Responsibilities

Provides individual, and in some cases, family therapy to active clients.

Updates the treatment plan to reflect therapy goals. Collaborates with other professionals regarding client participation level, progress, and setbacks.

Completes intakes for individuals requesting services at BJC, assessing their eligibility based on symptomology, treatment history, and current needs.

Develops and facilitates education for clients.
