Med/Surg Tele RN Job Details

Location: Columbus, OH 43210 (Ohio healthcare jobs)

Facility: Renowned teaching hospital

Unit: Med/Surg Tele, Surgical with Burn Unit (22 beds, 16 rooms)

Position Type: Locum Tenens (Travel Nursing Contract)

Contract Dates: November 3, 2025 – February 2, 2026

Assignment Length: 13 weeks

Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), every other/third weekend required

Weekly Hours: 36

Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics

Charting: EPIC

Medication System: Pyxis

Support Services: IV/pharmacy, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, social work, transport, rapid response

Floating: Required within OSU healthcare organization

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (compact or Ohio state license required at submission)

Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program

BLS certification (American Heart Association)

Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele nursing experience with adult and geriatric patients

Previous charge RN and teaching hospital experience preferred

Experience with EPIC electronic health records preferred

Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)

Ability to provide two professional references (one from a manager, director, or formal leadership)

Med/Surg Tele RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality clinical care to adults and geriatric patients with burns, surgical, urology, GYN, ENT, and oral/maxillofacial conditions

Perform specialized nursing procedures: burn dressings, flap checks, leech therapy, and wound care

Manage feeding tubes, oxygen therapy, and non-invasive airway management

Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias

Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed

Float to other Med/Surg Tele units within the OSU healthcare system as required

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care

Maintain accurate clinical documentation using EPIC
