JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the classroom teacher or principal, assists the teacher in performing daily classroom tasks and performs other related duties as assigned.
This position is required to convey the Church's message and to assist in carrying out the Church's mission. This position is required to uphold the standards of the Catholic Church in his/her day-to day work and personal life. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma
Knowledge of and ability to use English correctly and appropriately
Basic computer skills
Ability to communicate effectively
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of operation of A/V equipment
Ability to keep accurate records in a timely manner
Ability and willingness to work with children of all ages
Ability to work independently
General knowledge of the instructional process
Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, team cooperation, and positive work performance for the purpose of maintaining the instructional process and well-being of the school
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to communicate with staff, students, parents, and community in a professional manner concerning the school program
Previous experience in a school setting
Experience working with students and parents
Ability to meet and interact with public and employees with tact, courtesy and discretion
Ability to exercise independent judgment in the interrelation and application of standard practices and procedures
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
Follows the school's discipline policy for students
Maintains an orderly and safe work environment free of hazards
Acts in a professional manner in demeanor and work habits
Assists students in mastering instructional purposes
Actively supervises students
Reads to students, listens to students read, and tutors students
Works well with children.
Maintains positive relationships with students, parents, other staff members, and volunteers
Responds well to supervision and direction from Teacher or Principal
Follows the policies and regulations of the Archdiocese and school
In the absence of the teacher, assumes responsibility for students
Adapts easily to work assignments and can be relied upon to handle special tasks when asked
Manages student behavior in a constructive manner when needed keeping with the discipline policies of the school and classroom

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a classroom environment and duties may be performed outside in inclement weather conditions.
TRAVEL
Travel is required as needed to attend workshops and in-service trainings sponsored by the Archdiocese and others approved by the principal.
