A Neuromonitoring Specialist conducts various types of neurophysiological testing appropriate to their clinical competency and in accordance to IONM best practices, all under the supervision of a qualified remote provider.
The Neuromonitoring Specialist is responsible for direct patient care in the operating room and interacts with operating room personnel to facilitate a safe environment for patients and staff.
· Collects neurological data efficiently and effectively * Consults with surgeon, anesthesiologist and remote provider regarding IONM plan and structures at risk * Interacts with patients to obtain a detailed history and physical and clearly explains the IONM plan, including risks of various intraoperative tests * Participates in activities to improve patient safety and clinical quality * Adheres to organizational guidelines and policies on best clinical practices, monitoring standards, and patient privacy * Maintains neuromonitoring equipment * Collaborates with colleagues and facility staff * Bachelor's degree, preferably in the biological sciences (or related field); or graduate from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Neurodiagnostic Program; or equivalent comprehensive clinical portfolio.
