Position Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the successful execution of complex federal government contracts and task orders. This role ensures delivery excellence, compliance with federal acquisition regulations (FAR/DFARS), effective contract administration, and alignment of program outcomes with client objectives. The Senior Project Manager provides strategic direction, manages cross-functional teams, maintains strong client relationships, and serves as the primary point of contact for government contracting officers, program managers, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Provide overall leadership and direction for multiple government contracts or a large, complex program.
Serve as the primary interface with federal clients, contracting officers, and program stakeholders to ensure compliance, quality delivery, and satisfaction.
Oversee project planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance against cost, schedule, and scope requirements.
Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, agency-specific regulations, and company policies.
Monitor and report program performance through regular status updates, contract deliverables, and executive-level briefings.
Lead risk management, mitigation strategies, and issue resolution to maintain program success.
Develop, mentor, and supervise project staff, including subcontractor management.
Drive continuous improvement in project management practices, leveraging industry best practices, PMBOK standards, and federal contracting methodologies.
Collaborate with business development teams in proposal preparation, capture strategy, and pricing efforts.
Oversee contract modifications, extensions, and close-out activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
PMP® or PgMP® certification strongly preferred.
10+ years of progressive project management experience in federal government contracting, including at least 5 years in a senior or program management capacity.
In-depth knowledge of federal acquisition processes, contract types (FFP, T&M, CPFF, IDIQ), and compliance requirements.
Demonstrated success managing multi-million-dollar programs with diverse teams and subcontractors.
Strong financial acumen, with experience in program budgeting, cost control, and earned value management (EVM).
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance (if required by contract).
