C.J Mahan is in search of an experienced marine heavy civil bridge superintendent. The ideal candidate will be responsible for project field operations assigned in order to achieve timely and profitable completion. The Superintendent directly supervises the field labor force, works in conjunction with Project Management Team, and is supported by Director of Operations and Logistics. This position must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational and time management skills, and be able to communicate effectively and professionally with the client.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for the safety of all assigned employees and subcontractors to ensure the safe execution of all activities, including the strict adherence to company safety policies and programs through the communication and enforcement of the Company Safety and Health Management Program, including the ability to independently stop work for a safety violation or suspected safety violation.

Monitor and report project labor, materials, subcontractors and equipment as work progresses and take necessary actions to control as he or she shall determine, suggesting alternatives to mitigate delays and interface issues during design changes and ongoing construction.

Has accountability for schedule input and adherence, cost, quality, and project profitability.

Support positive relationships with clients, designers, consultants and the community.

Prepare and submit daily reports documenting jobsite progress and conditions for payment purposes.

Attend and participate in project meetings.

Supervise and direct craft through planning, means and methods, manpower requirements, material quantities, equipment needs, and work schedule. This includes directly hiring craft personnel, renting equipment and submitting dispatcher requests.

Notification of marine equipment moves to/from water and land; as well as marine fleet movement through the marine fleet notification email group.

Fully understand project equipment and materials.

Coordinate assigned work with different crafts, subcontractors and inspection staffs.

Perform monthly performance evaluations of lead craft personnel

Perform monthly safety project audits

Education and/or Experience

Basic knowledge of construction industry including equipment, labor, means and methods, codes and standards

Experience in heavy civil construction required of at least 3 years

OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification

First Aid/CPR certification

Experience working on US Army Corps of Engineer projects a plus

Travel

Must be willing to temporarily relocate on an as-needed basis.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, grasp or crawl. The employee is required to frequently climb ladders/work at heights and balance/walk on uneven terrain, lift up to 10 pounds, sit/stand for sustained periods of time (up to 12 hours/day), and speak/hear.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to wet, humid condition airborne particles, and extreme heat or cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud and may require protective equipment.
