Job Description
Job Responsibilities:
Provide leadership, oversight, and direction for Novartis Japan philanthropic partnerships.
Provide strategic counsel and expertise to support the development and implementation of future strategic philanthropic partnerships.
Monitor and share philanthropic and policy trends and advancements including approaches, metrics & evaluation, and insights to drive innovation, impact, best practices, efficiency, and growth.
Drive the development and implementation of metrics & evaluations systems to maximize impact and efficiency of philanthropic programs.
Prepare strategic content including memos, presentations, reports, communications, and updates for senior leadership on Japan philanthropic strategy, programs, and partnerships.
Collaborate closely with global Social Impact & Sustainability (SI&S) to implement the global SI&S strategy in Japan
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines related to corporate philanthropy.
Support the Basic Research (BR) Internship Program, allowing medical students to support BR in Japan
In cooperation with Communication, publicize BR's Internship Program externally to demonstrate externally NPKK's contribution to the drug discovery ecosystem in Japan
Secretary General of Novartis Foundation Japan (Secondment)
Seconded to the Novartis Foundation Japan to perform duties as the Secretary General in accordance with its policy
Note:0.5FTE on Novartis activities and 0.5FTE on secondment to the Novartis Foundation Japan
Ideal Background:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or higher preferably (Ph.D) in Business management, Public Relations, Medical Sciences, Biology or science
Language: Japanese (Native) & English (Business)
Skills and Experience:
5+ years industry experience in corporate philanthropy
Proactive and solutions-oriented leadership of cross-functional and external partnerships that require leading without authority and adept management of complex stakeholder relationships
Strong strategic mindset and experience processing new insights, external data, and complex information to not only maximize existing programs, but support the creation of alternative strategic approaches and systems
Proven track record successfully managing multiple philanthropic program and partnerships
Demonstrated project management skills, including prioritizing tasks, leading cross-functional stakeholders across a matrixed organization, and removing barriers to successfully lead and deliver on complex projects
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build, problem solve, and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
Knowledge of relevant regulations and guidelines related to corporate philanthropy
Experience managing metrics & evaluation and grant management systems
Collaborative and team-oriented ways of working required
