Position Summary:
The Gift Shop Manager oversees the daily operations of PRWC’s on-site and online gift shops, ensuring efficient sales, accurate cash management, exceptional customer service, and a welcoming shopping experience that supports the Center’s mission of wildlife education and rehabilitation. This role combines retail management, merchandising, volunteer coordination, vendor relations, and e-commerce oversight. This is a full-time position.
Primary Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations of the on-site and online gift shops to ensure accuracy in sales, cash handling, and customer service.
Maintain adequate inventory for both the physical store and e-store by managing product selection, purchasing, restocking, and vendor relationships.
Research, source, and purchase merchandise aligned with PRWC’s mission and customer interests.
Maintain, update, and troubleshoot all point-of-sale (POS) and e-store technologies.
Oversee fulfillment of online orders, including packaging and shipment when necessary.
Develop and implement pricing policies by reviewing merchandising trends, determining sales promotions, authorizing clearance sales, and studying customer behavior.
Work within an established annual budget to meet or exceed financial goals.
Identify current and future customer interests by engaging with visitors and online shoppers to enhance product selection and experience.
Recruit, select, orient, train, and schedule gift shop volunteers to ensure consistent coverage and high-quality service.
Maintain store condition and visual merchandising standards to create an engaging, mission-driven shopping environment.
Develop, maintain, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for volunteer routines and POS system use.
Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteer and customer concerns, addressing issues, complaints, or grievances in a professional and timely manner.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in retail management, buying, merchandising, or e-commerce required.
Proven ability to manage vendor relationships, negotiate pricing, and source merchandise.
Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
Experience working with volunteers or in a nonprofit or educational setting preferred.
Proficiency with POS systems, online store platforms, and basic office software.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and uphold the mission and values of PRWC.
