JOB OVERVIEW
The estimator will report to the Project Controls Manager - Estimating. This position is responsible for cost estimating projects within the Project function.
The successful candidate will be required to assist development of capital estimates either in-house or by contractor.
You will work on all Development & Manage Projects (D&MP) stage (AACEI Class 1 to 5) estimates. Estimators understand high level / quantity based estimate process, can assist in development of all components of estimate (direct, indirect, engineering, project management, completions & commissioning, escalation and contingency).
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Support development of all types of estimates for individual D&MP stage under supervision.
Analyze / compare various components and metrics with internal / external benchmarks
Support end-to-end estimating process. Assist in development of estimate and benchmarking preparation plan to estimate basis, presentations.
Assist in developing benchmarking bundles for various D&MP stages
Attend all corporate required training courses as deem necessary for the position
Be willing to travel to a site location (overnight) as needed REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Technical diploma or University degree
2 to 5 years of experience in preparing cost estimates for industrial projects.
Exposure to field construction activities for industrial projects. Skills and Knowledge:
Awareness of Aspen-tech (k-Base) estimating software will be an asset.
Ability to work with team members to support estimating deliverables in a timely manner.
Analytical skills to compare estimates with internal and external benchmarks
Good interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills
Excellent computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Power BI) WORKING CONDITIONS
The estimator will be assigned to work from Calgary offices and may require regular travel to site
