This may include performing administrative duties in an office, assisting in a research laboratory, aid faculty/staff in supporting academic programs or patient care. Duties will be clear and direct. The Student Assistant will require excellent customer service and strong organizational skills and will represent the department and the university with the highest degree of integrity applying OSU mission and shared values.

Job Description Summary

Serves as a Student Research Assistant supporting the daily operations of research within the Department of Neurology, Division of Health Services Research. Works closely with principal investigators and study coordinators to facilitate ongoing research projects. Responsibilities include recruiting and consenting study participants in compliance with IRB protocols; assisting in the distribution and collection of surveys; supporting the conduct and transcription of qualitative interviews; and organizing, entering, and validating research data. Ensures adherence to regulatory requirements and maintains accurate study documentation. Contributes to literature reviews and conducts library-based research to support study aims. Participates in the preparation of research abstracts, posters, and manuscripts for presentation and publication. Plays an integral role in advancing the lab’s mission to improve patient care through high-quality, evidence-based research.

Essential Duties

75% Responsibilities include recruiting and consenting study participants in compliance with IRB protocols; assisting in the distribution and collection of surveys; supporting the conduct and transcription of qualitative interviews; and organizing, entering, and validating research data. Ensures adherence to regulatory requirements and maintains accurate study documentation.

25% Contributes to literature reviews and conducts library-based research to support study aims. Participates in the preparation of research abstracts, posters, and manuscripts for presentation and publication. Plays an integral role in advancing the lab’s mission to improve patient care through high-quality, evidence-based research.

Minimum Education and Skills/Experience

College graduate or equivalency required; must be enrolled in a degree-granting program at OSU; knowledge and understanding of biology, chemistry, and basic science research techniques and equipment desired. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
