POSITION SUMMARY:

This role focuses on providing essential clinical services for patients requiring behavioral health interventions in our Emergency Departments. You will assess, triage, and provide treatment to a dynamic and diverse patient population. Key responsibilities include crisis assessment, individual and family interventions, case management, community collaboration, patient education, and treatment planning. Depending on qualifications, flexibility may allow for temporary coverage of other services within Behavioral Health.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

A Master's Degree and licensure in a Behavioral Health field (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent) are required.

Certification in PMT de-escalation techniques must be obtained within 6 months of hire and maintained.

COMPETENCIES:

Strong clinical skills and a team-oriented approach are essential.

Effective written and verbal communication skills in English are a must.

Basic computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.

In-depth understanding of psychiatric and risk assessments is required.

Familiarity with abuse and neglect reporting mandates and community resources is preferred.

Flexibility to meet both service-specific and overall system needs is critical.

Ability to independently manage a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks.

Must possess age-specific competencies for effective care.

Capability to respond swiftly and efficiently in crisis situations, including patient restraint as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Engage in clinical supervision by discussing cases, identifying areas for growth, and accepting feedback.

Self-assess behavior impacts on peers and patients during supervision.

Utilize diverse interventions and resources to treat a varied population, as demonstrated through case reviews.

Respect cultural differences and integrate them into treatment approaches.

Maintain knowledge of community resources to address patient needs effectively.

Provide warm and empathetic care, recognizing each patient as a whole individual.

Interview patients promptly, incorporating relevant clinical information and recognizing when to involve family.

Serve as a behavioral health resource for emergency department staff, families, and community resources.

Show flexibility in scheduling and service coverage for both Emergency Departments.

Demonstrate the ability to multi-task while addressing patients' clinical needs effectively.

Maintain productivity and responsibility without needing reminders.

Exercise sound judgment in seeking assistance while working independently.

Contact Managed Care Organizations for authorization of care levels and document efforts accordingly.

Complete documentation accurately and thoroughly, complying with JCAHO and Managed Care standards.

Employ psychological and physical management techniques in crisis situations consistent with PMT training.

Participate in Early Response codes and Dr. Strong codes.
