Bachelor’s Degree in Public/Business Administration, management, economics or closely related area
Substantial experience in government or non-profit program administration. Previous experience administering supplier diversity programs including grant administration preferred.
Demonstrated supervisory/management experience to include hiring, evaluating, training, motivating and administering disciplinary actions required.
Previous experience developing and managing an operating budget.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Working knowledge of computer software programs including spreadsheets and database management.

What You’ll Do:
The Deputy Chief, Business Solutions and Outreach provides high-level leadership and operational oversight for the Office of Business Solutions & Outreach. Ensures statewide engagement of equitable delivery of business support services through Minority Business Assistance Centers (MBAC) and partner organizations. Builds strong relationships with internal teams, external organizations, and partners to expand outreach efforts and promote consistent quality service for businesses. Oversees MBAC program administration and supervises internal staff, aligning team efforts with operational standards and the Department of Development’s mission to empower communities to succeed. Tracks program key performance metrics and supports continuous improvement. Aligns office goals with divisional goals and fosters operational efficiency across the MBDD offices.
Some of the Job Duties:
Strategic Leadership and Program Oversight - Provides high-level leadership and operational oversight for the Office of Business Solutions and Outreach. Ensures statewide engagement of equitable delivery of business support services through Minority Business Assistance Centers (MBAC) and partner organizations.
Stakeholder Outreach and Partner Coordination - Builds strong relationships with internal teams, external organizations, and partners to expand outreach efforts and promote consistent quality service for businesses. Represents the division in statewide forums, ensuring efforts connect with and reinforce the broader division and departmental goals.
Program Management and Team Development - Oversees MBAC program administration and supervises internal staff, aligning team efforts with operational standards and the Department of Development’s mission to empower communities to succeed.
Performance Monitoring and Data-Driven Improvement - In accordance with the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) requirements, tracks program key performance metrics and supports continuous improvement by using data insights to refine services and increase impact across the network of MBACs.
Cross-Division Collaboration and Operational Integration - Aligns office goals with divisional goals and fosters operational efficiency across the MBDD offices (Supplier Engagement, Policy and Administration, and Financial Programs & Incentives). Contributes to division-wide initiatives that promote a responsive, bold and solution-focused public service culture.
