Position Overview
Tech FEM Engineering Solutions LLP (TFE) is seeking a highly skilled Aeroacoustics Engineer with strong computational expertise to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience
in aeroacoustics simulations and a deep understanding of noise prediction methodologies, including fundamentals of sound and noise theory, propagation and mitigation techniques.
Key Responsibilities
Develop 1D acoustics calculations for industrial engineering equipment for noise abatement and mitigation
Validate 1D computations with high fidelity 3D computational simulations. Develop and execute high-fidelity aeroacoustics simulations to predict noise generation and propagation in fluid flow systems
Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Computational Aeroacoustics (CAA) analyses. Ability to run advanced CFD simulations (RANS, LES, DES, ...)
Apply the Ffowcs Williams-Hawkings equation for far-field acoustic prediction from near-field flow data
Validate simulation results against experimental data and analytical solutions
Optimize designs to reduce acoustic emissions and meet regulatory noise standards
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including fluid dynamics, structural, and design engineers
Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders
Stay current with latest developments in aeroacoustics simulation techniques and methodologies
Education
Master's or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics, Applied Mathematics, or related field
Technical Skills
Essential:
Experience in performing 1D calculations based on sound theory for prediction of noise generation in industrial flow equipment. Experience in designing sound abatement techniques for the same and validating with 1D calculations.
Strong background in fluid dynamics, turbulence modeling, and acoustic theory
Proficiency in CFD software packages (ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, Star-CCM+, or similar)
Deep understanding of the Ffowcs Williams-Hawkings acoustics analogy and its applications
Experience with aeroacoustics simulation tools (ACTRAN, Siemens LMS, PowerACOUSTICS, or equivalent)
Strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, Fortran, or C/C++
Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) and parallel computing environments
Knowledge of signal processing and acoustic post-processing techniques
Familiarity with mesh generation and numerical methods (FEM, FVM, LES, DES, RANS)
Experience
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in aeroacoustics simulations (for senior level)
Proven track record of applying FW-H equation in practical engineering applications
Experience in noise prediction for rotating machinery, turbomachinery, or aerodynamic applications
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Direct Noise Computation (DNC) and hybrid methods
Knowledge of experimental aeroacoustics and measurement techniques
Familiarity with optimization algorithms and design space exploration
Publications in peer-reviewed journals or conference proceedings
Experience in aerospace, automotive, or HVAC industries
Understanding of regulatory noise standards (FAA, EASA, ISO, etc.)
