Job Description:
SUMMARY
Providessupervision to students of the veterinary technology program during laboratoryclass in Veterinary Science I (Small Animal Medicine), Veterinary Science II(Large Animal Medicine), VT 1600 (Veterinary Surgical Nursing and Assisting), VT2610 (Veterinary Anesthesia, Analgesia and Dental Techniques) and VT 1700(Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging). Assesses the health status of veterinarypatients.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
Provides supervision to veterinary technology students during client care in the aforementioned classes
Performs medical/dental/surgical assessment of veterinary technology patients
Authorizes veterinary technology program staff and students to treat patients
Properly manages any dental, medical or surgical emergencies
Interprets radiographs and conducts radiographic, pharmacological and surgical consultation with students
Authorizes medications, performs medical evaluations and treatments, performs surgeries, provides post-surgical care, checks emergency equipment, and handles and dispenses controlled drugs as appropriate
Willing to observe and sign off on student essential skills required for their graduation according to programmatic SOPs.
Ability and willingness to keep track of the controlled drug log upholding to
DEA regulations.
Performs in accordance with USDA, IACUC, and AVMA requirements and guidelines.
Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) or VMD (Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris)
Ohio license to practice veterinary medicine
Demonstrated proficiency in veterinary medicine
Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team
Demonstrated experience requiring diverse problem- solving methods in a variety of situations
Willingness to interact with staff to insure a satisfactory outcome for all patients

Veterinary medicine involves a significant amount of physical activity and hands-on activities. Typically, the position requires physical restraint of animals and may require lifting weights up to 40 pounds.
Special Note: This is aPart-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, with the following Set Rate of Pay: $60.00/hour.
