Founded in 1897, Piedmont College is a private, comprehensive liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 2,500 students at campuses in Demorest and Athens, Georgia.

Adjunct Instructors at Piedmont University are responsible for course planning and instruction in classroom, lab, or clinical settings, and courses may be conducted in various delivery modes, such as face-to-face, hybrid, and/or blended formats. In addition, adjunct faculty are responsible for student evaluation and timely and accurate submission of required paperwork for instructing students in education courses as part of doctorate, graduate, and undergraduate programs. Expertise in one or more of the following disciplines is needed: educational foundations, the psychology of learning, reading methods, social studies methods, mathematics methods, science methods, and special education.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Effective classroom teaching and interacting with students in a professional manner.

Maintaining accurate and secure records of student grades and attendance.

Maintaining high standards of professionalism in the content, objectives, teaching, and grading of all courses.

Filing accurate course syllabi with the College of Arts and Sciences each semester.

Maintaining an understanding of university and department policies.

Contributing to the ongoing operation of their respective department and college.

Assuring their availability to students, faculty, staff, and administrators by being available before or after class and regularly checking their university email.

Supervise students in field experiences as needed.

Supervise Directed Independent Study as needed.

Other relevant duties as assigned.

Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Incumbents must remain relevant in the area of employment and flexible to changes in work related to institutional needs.

Supplemental Information

Environmental, Physical, and Visual Acuity Factors

Work will be performed in indoor environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Incumbents will perform work that is mostly sedentary, where they exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Incumbents will regularly get up and down from a seated position, reach, bend, and stand throughout the day.

Incumbents are required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
