Job Description
A concrete mixer driver transports and delivers ready-mix concrete to construction sites, ensuring quality and proper consistency through continuous mixing and site-specific adjustments. Responsibilities include performing pre- and post-trip inspections, routine truck maintenance, and operating loading and discharge equipment, while maintaining accurate delivery records and fostering safe, customer-focused service.
Key Responsibilities
Safe Operation:
Drive and operate a heavy concrete mixer truck to deliver concrete to various job sites, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
Quality Control:
Load the truck with materials, control the mixer to ensure proper consistency and quality of the concrete, and make adjustments on-site as needed.
On-Site Delivery:
Maneuver the truck into position at job sites, assemble and operate chutes, and discharge the concrete accurately into designated areas or containers.
Truck Maintenance:
Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, conduct basic vehicle maintenance such as adding fluids, and keep the truck clean to prevent concrete hardening.
Communication & Record Keeping:
Coordinate with dispatchers regarding schedules and site information, maintain accurate delivery logs, and communicate with customers and site personnel professionally.
Essential Skills
Commercial Driver's License (CDL): Required to operate the specialized heavy vehicle.
Customer Service: Interact professionally with clients and site personnel, providing excellent service.
Mechanical Aptitude: Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance to perform simple repairs and checks.
Safety Focus: Strong awareness of occupational safety regulations for both driving and site operations.
Navigation: Ability to read maps and follow driving directions to reach job sites.
Key Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED is generally required.
A clean driving record and a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) are essential.
Background checks and drug tests are often a part of the hiring process.
