Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position working with oncology and observation patients requiring an active OH or compact RN license and at least 2 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Work in an observation unit focused on Med/Surg, Telemetry, and oncology patients
Patients include those with dehydration, electrolyte abnormalities, nausea/vomiting, chemo/radiation symptom management, AKI, pain control, UTIs, and post-procedure care
Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 with a charge RN in the assignment
Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts (19:00-07:30)
May occasionally float to the ED to care for Med/Surg Tele patients awaiting transfer, with orientation provided
Unit uses telemetry monitoring and manages short stay observation patients, with care expected to last less than two midnights
RNs will provide care for oncology and observation patients with a range of medical and post-procedure needs
Team structure includes RNs, PCAs, UCAs, APPs, and supervising MDs
Navy blue or white scrubs required; scrubs are not provided
Orientation to any floating unit will be provided
Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers
Return to work eligibility for former employees requires a 6 month separation
Current employees at any Ohio State University hospital location are not eligible for travel positions
Time off requests must be submitted with initial application
Requirements
Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program required
Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
BCLS certification required; ACLS and OCN preferred
Proficiency in telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV starts, and PICC line management necessary
Two professional references required, one from a manager/director or formal leader
First-time travelers accepted
