Position: X-Ray Technician
Role Overview
The X-Ray Technician performs diagnostic imaging to support patient diagnosis and treatment. The role involves operating radiography equipment, ensuring patient safety, and collaborating with medical staff to achieve high-quality imaging results. Attention to detail, technical expertise, and adherence to hospital protocols are essential.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct diagnostic X-ray examinations following physician orders, including routine, portable, and specialized procedures.
• Prepare patients, provide instructions, and ensure proper positioning for optimal image capture.
• Operate X-ray machines and digital radiography systems, adjusting parameters to achieve high-quality images.
• Implement radiation safety measures for patients, staff, and self in line with hospital standards.
• Support radiologists and clinicians during imaging procedures and minor interventions.
• Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of radiology equipment.
• Accurately record patient details, imaging procedures, and results in HIS/EMR systems.
• Ensure strict adherence to infection control, hygiene, and hospital safety protocols.
• Monitor inventory of radiology consumables and inform supervisors of replenishment needs.
• Assist in urgent imaging for ICU, OT, and emergency department patients as required.
Key Skills & Competencies
• Proficient in X-ray equipment operation, portable imaging, and digital radiography technology.
• Strong understanding of anatomy, positioning techniques, and radiographic standards.
• Knowledge of radiation safety, ALARA principles, and hospital safety protocols.
• Excellent coordination with doctors, nurses, and allied healthcare staff.
• Meticulous attention to detail and patient-focused approach.
• Ability to work under pressure in high-demand clinical settings.
Qualifications & Experience
• Diploma / Degree in Radiography / X-Ray Technology from a recognized institute.
• Minimum 1–3 years of experience in a hospital or diagnostic center preferred.
• Certification in radiation safety is an advantage.
