NOW HIRING! A-Line is seeking a Finance Specialist to join our team in Columbus, OH. Under the direction of the Single-Family Accounting Manager, the Finance Specialist serves as a lead worker overseeing lower-level bond accountants and entry-level staff. This position plays a key role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency within the accounting and bond management functions. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience with financial reporting under GAAP, and the ability to provide leadership and training to support staff.

Location: Columbus, OH

Pay: $22/hour

Key Responsibilities

Act as lead over lower-level bond accountants and entry-level staff, providing training, guidance, and quality review of work.

Analyze subsidiary ledgers and financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with agency and governmental accounting standards.

Develop and implement accounting systems, loan and grant systems, internal controls, policies, and procedures.

Independently review complex financial reports and schedules for Single-Family Mortgage Revenue Bond programs in accordance with GAAP.

Analyze and reconcile mortgage loan and bond documentation, ensuring accurate reporting of cash, investments, expenses, income, loans, bonds, and accounts payable/receivable.

Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial transactions, ensuring corrective actions are documented and implemented.

Prepare and maintain automated accounting systems, computer-generated reports, and statements of mortgage data.

Prepare invoices and calculate program-related financial items (e.g., interest rate swap payments, trustee fees, amortizations, premiums/discounts).

Develop and prepare specialized accounting reports, financial schedules, and statements used in bond issuance or refunding activities.

Establish procedures for reconciling balance sheet and income statement accounts; research and resolve discrepancies.

Ensure bond program compliance with governmental regulations and trust agreements; prepare accounting footnotes for annual audited statements.

Collaborate with trustee banks, loan servicers, and external partners to clarify and resolve complex reconciliation issues.

Respond to public and bondholder inquiries related to agency bond programs.

Participate in or lead staff meetings and in-service training sessions.

Qualifications

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

2+ years of accounting experience; public sector or bond accounting experience is a plus.

Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Demonstrated experience with reconciliations, financial analysis, and complex data reporting.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/financial management systems.

Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

Schedule & Work Environment

Full-time position, Monday–Friday, first shift (flexible schedule).

On-site in Columbus, OH.
