As an essential link between automotive manufacturers and suppliers, the Resident Quality Engineer holds a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the manufacturing process, maintaining product quality, and promptly resolving any technical issues that may arise.
This position involves acting as a liaison with various Methode engineering departments, providing technical insights during product development, and ensuring that capabilities align with the manufacturer's requirements.
With a strong focus on quality assurance, problem-solving, and continuous improvement, the Resident Engineer plays a vital part in fostering effective communication between all stakeholders involved in the automotive industry, optimizing production processes and adhering to industry standards.
Position Responsibilities:
Interface directly with customer's engineers, processes, systems, labs, test facilities and customer sites as required and relay the information effectively to Methode.
The three main points of contact inside the Methode system will be Samaya Electronics plant in Egypt, GEU warehouse in Belgium and Methode Electronics plant in Malta.
Prioritize customer satisfaction by providing on-site support to address quality issues and provide efficient sorting and rework.
Conduct Routine visits to customer sites to enhance customer relationships.
Develop and maintain a schedule of visits and prioritize visits based on need and urgency
Implement effective containment measures in the warehouse and at key customer sites to minimize the presence of defective parts.
Provide an efficient first level root cause analysis and facilitate return process for defective parts to the manufacturing plants.
Define product requirements during concept development stage and through product development cycle, support design, verification and evaluation as well as support the customer through the product life cycle
Develop and review product designs for compliance with engineering principles and company standards as well as customer contract requirements and related specifications
Lead all aspects at the customers site as seen from the customer's perspective
Thoroughly analyze and understand the customer's requirements
Interfaces with various customer departments/groups such as electrical, mechanical and software engineering, purchasing, quality, project management, product validation and manufacturing to support all aspects of the customer's internal processes
Integrate with the customer at the customer's site. Actively uses all customer systems that support the Engineering process
Assist Methode's Systems Engineering team to develop Product Design requirements used by Methode's engineering teams
Perform primary engineering evaluation of software/hardware release candidates at customer's site, both bench and vehicle
Support customer reviews, builds, launches and production at Methode's and customer plants
Drive to resolution any technical issues encountered by the customer during their development process including on-vehicle and on-bench

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (ME or EE preferred)
Ability to travel 40% both domestic and international
2+ years of combined product experience at an automotive OEM and/or Tier 1 automotive supplier
Experience with a structured approach to problem-solving (e.g., 8D)
Hands-on experience with test and measurement equipment
Experience troubleshooting and debugging electromechanical systems and issues
Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and handle various tasks at the same time
Strong interpersonal technical, organization, presentation, and motivational skills
Proven ability to overcome obstacles and get results
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of experience with automotive interior electronic products with emphasis on products that are electro-mechanical that interface with vehicle communication systems
2+ years of experience as a Resident Engineer with one or more OEM customers
Experience with OEMs Supplier Portals such as COVISINT/WERs for Ford, GM.
Thorough understanding of all engineering disciplines through a combination of education and on-the-job training from past experience highly preferred
Knowledge of embedded C and/or CAN and LIN bus low level CAN driver configurations, embedded module implementation of CAN
Experience with VectorCANdriver, KWP2000, and CAN analysis tools (Canoe, CANylzer)
Solid knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and software design
Experience with software configuration management tools, experience with SVN a plus
