Position overview:
The International Medical Programs role is accountable for the successful development and execution of specific medical affairs strategies and plans that enhance regulatory approval, customer access and adoption of Omnipod products in the International region. The medical plans encompass value-generating activities on medical education, evidence generation and dissemination, and Health Care Professionals (HCP) and Key Opinion Leader (KOL) engagement. A large part of the role focuses on the successful establishment of the International medical education strategy and tactics, and to deliver the related plans at International levels.
With this role, the person can own and take medical education to the next level at Insulet, by establishing and executing the international education strategy and tactics that provide comprehensive, blended education offerings to Health Care Professionals (digital and in-person). Responsibilities include Medical Education strategy and tactics, content development of programs, assessment of the performance of programs and direct involvement in the delivery of Medical Education programs.
The International Medical Programs Director leads, inspires and coaches a team of Medical Affairs professionals who are dedicated to deliver world-class medical education programs at International levels. This leadership role ensures that their team is delivering their plans with high quality standards and scientific excellence. The role also ensures all national and local Professional Education programs are coordinated and executed along that one International strategy.
This role deploys strategic thinking, leads, aligns with and influences cross-functional partners such as commercial operations, marketing, market access, regulatory, sales excellence, to ensure the establishment of strategies and execution of International medical plans in alignment with business objectives.
They will have and maintain an in-depth understanding of diabetes, the current and future treatment landscape along with ongoing clinical research with a focus on the diabetes device market.
Key Accountabilities:
• Lead the development and the implementation of the International Medical Education strategy aligned to commercial business priorities and corporate strategy.
• Lead, coach and mentor a team of Medical Affairs professionals accountable for Medical Education programs.
• Work with marketing, sales excellence, clinical training, and business Teams as well as external parties to identify HCP education learning needs and priorities.
• Innovate on medical education delivery models to meet the changing customer needs and expectations for industry-led education.
• Lead the execution of symposiums at International congresses.
• Lead the development and execution of other Medical Affairs initiatives as per identified needs, related to evidence generation and dissemination, KOL engagement in very close collaboration with International HCP marketing.
• Develop, foster, and maintain relationships with HCP’s and thought leaders in the field of Diabetes technology and education across the healthcare continuum.
• Ensures that Medical Affairs activities are always conducted in a compliant manner by working closely with the local compliance officer at all times.
• Contributes actively to the Global and International Medical Affairs teams and cross-functional product launch planning teams.
• Develops and maintains a thorough and detailed working knowledge of the organisation and its products, current scientific research, and publications

Education and Experience
• MD, PharmD, PhD or MS in life science /or an equivalent combination of education or experience
• 8 or more years of relevant Medical Affairs experience
• Demonstrated leadership in Medical Affair and/or Medical Education within the pharmaceutical or medical device industry and/or related field
• Strong capabilities to create and tailor impactful messages to a given audience and in story telling
• Ability to develop innovative, impactful presentations and learning content.
• Knowledge of the medical device industry, including relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards which apply to interactions with HCPs, payers, and industry representatives
• Preferably, understanding of the diabetes disease state, the current/future treatment landscape, and ongoing clinical research as well as the understanding of the regional medical practice and clinical decision-making regarding patient care for diabetes
