We are seeking a skilled and organized Foreclosure Legal Assistant or Paralegal with direct experience in creditors' rights and Alabama foreclosure law to join a growing legal team. The Foreclosure Legal Assistant or Paralegal candidate will have experience supporting attorneys in judicial and non-judicial foreclosure matters, creditor bankruptcy representation, collections, and real property litigation. A strong understanding of Alabamaâ s foreclosure procedures and title laws is essential.
What Youâ ll Do as a Foreclosure Legal Assistant or Paralegal:
Draft, prepare, and file legal documents related to judicial and non-judicial foreclosures in accordance with Alabama law, including complaints, motions, notices, affidavits, and sale documents.
Review title reports, deeds, and loan documents to verify chain of title and lien priority.
Coordinate foreclosure sales and publication requirements under Alabama law.
Track statutory deadlines and manage calendars for hearings, pleadings, and publication schedules.
Communicate with courts, clients, and title companies
Prepare documentation and pleadings for creditor representation in bankruptcy proceedings (Ch. 7, 11, and 13), including motions for relief from stay.
Assist with post-sale confirmations, evictions, and surplus fund processes where applicable.
Maintain accurate case records, billing, and client communications in the firmâ s case management system.
What Youâ ll Need to be the Foreclosure Legal Assistant or Paralegal
Associate or Bachelor degree; Paralegal certificate preferred.
2â 5+ years of experience in a law firm or legal department focusing on creditorsâ rights, real estate, and/or foreclosure in Alabama.
Familiarity with Alabama judicial and nonjudicial foreclosure statutes, procedures, and publication requirements
Understanding of title searches, chain of title, and real property law in Alabama
Working knowledge of bankruptcy proceedings (especially in the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Alabama)
Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with legal case management platforms (e.g., Black Knight, ICE, or similar)
Strong attention to detail, time management, and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage high-volume caseloads efficiently
Experience using PACER CM/ECF; SCRA platforms
Experience working directly with mortgage lenders, banks, or loan servicers
Familiarity with FDCPA, RESPA, and other consumer protection regulations
Notary Public certification (Alabama) is a plus.
The pay range for the Foreclosure Legal Assistant or Paralegal is $45-$48k depending on skills sets and experience.
