Responsibilities
This role will coordinate external accountants, operations team, and asset management requirements to perform the day-to-day accounting and finance function and be responsible for the financial reporting of a newly opened PBSA/Hotel asset in Barcelona. Will be supporting the Spanish finance department in preparing budgets and financial forecasts.
The successful candidate will:
Work based in Barcelona and report to the Iberia finance team
Work with external accountants ensuring that the finance system links to the property booking systems
Oversee business process providers and be the link with the onsite operations team
Lead the financial reporting process of the asset and review and provide commentary on monthly performance liaising with applicable managers to ensure that all variances are investigated and explained.
Liaise with the Operations team in providing incisive information on business performance, identifying key issues and trends to enable business decisions to be made.
Work with the Iberia finance team in the development and continuous improvement of management reporting systems, processes, controls and output, to ensure they are robust and allow for the reporting of this dynamic business experiencing continued expansion.
Ensure that all the tax reporting (VAT and Corporation tax) and company reporting requirements are met
Assist with the annual audit
Ad hoc financial analysis and regular forecasting.
Drive the annual budgeting process
Keep relationships with all main counterparties including administrators and tax advisors, payroll consultants, management companies in charge of the investment funds owning the building
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be:
An experienced accountant with 4-5 years of experience (previous experience in PBSA/Hotels will be valued)
Experienced in working in an international environment
Knowledgeable of Spanish GAAP (IFRS desirable)
Technically strong with an attitude for business process improvement
Experienced in preparing business plans
Highly numerate and excellent analytical ability
Customer orientated with proven ability to develop close working relationships
Enthusiastic and motivated team player with the ability to plan and execute tasks unsupervised
Flexible and able to work to tight deadlines
Knowledgeable of Microsoft Excel
Able to speak and write in English and Spanish
