About the Role:

• We are seeking an experienced Controller to join our team in Lexington, KY. This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on professional, capable of managing multiple priorities, and comfortable working in a small-to-medium-sized construction environment.

• The Controller will be supported by one accounting team member but will be expected to independently handle complex financial responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

• Manage cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

• Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal controls.

• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.

• Develop, implement, and monitor accounting policies and procedures.

• Provide financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.

• Support project accounting and job cost tracking in a construction setting.

• Supervise and mentor the accounting team member.

• Handle ad-hoc financial projects and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

• Leadership: The position is a leadership role, managing a small team (1 accounting team member), with the expectation to handle complex financial tasks independently.

• Industry Focus: The role is set in a construction environment, so experience or familiarity with construction-related accounting will be beneficial.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accounting Functions: Managing core accounting areas like:

• Accounts payable (AP), Accounts receivable (AR), General ledger, Payroll,

Financial Reporting:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

• Analyse financial performance and present findings.

Cash Management & Budgeting:

• Managing cash flow and budgeting.

• Forecasting financial needs and planning.

Qualifications

• Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).

Skills:

• Proficiency in accounting software.

• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.

• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

• Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.

• Locality: The candidate must be local to Lexington, KY and be able to work on-site.
