POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Head of Early Years is responsible for ensuring high quality instruction, support and leadership in order to produce high quality outcomes in the development of early years students at ISB using current, research-based practices. The Head of Early Years will partner with elementary school stakeholders to ensure that best practices are followed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the planning, coordinating, monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of the Early Years (EY) program.
Ensure the successful development and implementation of high quality, developmentally appropriate, inclusive, learning environments which promote learning through play
Implement professional development for faculty and staff to support Early Years learners across the school
Lead parent education events for Early Years parents with school leadership and/or teachers
Supervise Early Years teachers as assigned by the Principal
Support the Admissions process by reviewing applicant files and providing recommendations on program placement, learning support needs, and readiness for Early Years entry, as requested by the Principal.
Support Early Years recruitment efforts by assisting with open houses and community engagement events in collaboration with the Admissions team and ES leadership, ensuring alignment with ISB’s enrollment strategy and Early Years educational philosophy.
Support Early Years scheduling in collaboration with the elementary leadership team.
Recognize and celebrate the value of students’ home language and culture with the aim of promoting agency, social emotional well-being, and language development
Keep up to date on developments in the field of Early Years education through professional reading and development opportunities
Participate in co-curricular activities and/ or school section committees
Perform any other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related education field
Current teaching credentials and minimum five years successful, full-time early years teaching experience
Certification and experience in Educational Leadership-strongly preferred
Experience working and leading in Reggio Emilia inspired early years settings-required
Experience supervising early years teachers, program development, and leading professional development
Experience teaching in an international school early years setting-preferred
Experience in supporting sustainable enrollment growth and retention within Early Years programs, in alignment with strategic admissions goals and school capacity planning
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills in English, both written and oral
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Proven and sustained growth mindset and asset-based approach to teaching learners who are multilingual
