Summary
Tutors provide targeted instruction for K-12 students in language arts/reading and math based on qualifications and competencies. Tutoring sessions will take place in-person and on-site under the supervision of school administration. Most tutoring sessions will take place during the school day, with limited opportunities for tutoring outside of school hours. Tutors working during the school day must be able to work at least 12 hours a week with a maximum of 29 hours a week, for 3-5 days per week. Tutors will collaborate with school-based and central office staff to provide student academic support aligned to standards-based classroom instruction. Responsibilities will include preparing and teaching lessons that range between 30 minutes to 45 minutes in length for groups of approximately four students at a time. Tutors will also be responsible for assessing student learning, managing student performance data, and communicating with school staff and families regarding student progress
Qualifications
Tutor candidates are required to meet at least one of the following:
are currently enrolled at an accredited college/university OR
have completed at least an associate degree OR
have professional experience working in a field related to language arts, mathematics, or science OR
are a current or former FCPS teacher, noting current teachers will not tutor during their existing contract hours
Tutor candidates must be able to understand, follow, and communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing; work effectively with children, young adults, faculty, and staff; perform all required tasks, as assigned; be willing to participate in professional learning including coaching and on-going training.
