Chief Financial Officer

We are searching for a Controller to work a hybrid schedule for a great organization in Washington, DC.

The Controller oversees all accounting and finance activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial management.

This role is responsible for the financial health of the organization, managing all aspects of accounting, and producing timely and accurate financial reports for leadership and the board.

Qualifications Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.

A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is strongly preferred.

Experience: A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with several years in a senior role, preferably within a nonprofit setting.

Experience managing grants and coordinating audits is essential.

Essential duties include: financial management and reporting, compliance and audit, budgeting and planning, and grant management and fund accounting.

Skills and abilities: Thorough knowledge of nonprofit GAAP and compliance requirements.

Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, fund accounting systems) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences.

Salary $125,000 - $140,000 per year plus a generous benefits package.
