Veterinary Admissions and Recruitment Specialist - Rural Ohio

Department:

Veterinary Medicine College Administration

Under general supervision of the Director of Admissions and Recruitment for the College of Veterinary Medicine at The Ohio State University, the primary role of the Veterinary Admissions and Recruitment Specialist for Rural Ohio is to coordinate recruitment efforts for the DVM program with a focus on Rural Ohio Resident seats. This position will also participate in the processing and review of all admissions applications and post application review. Strong interpersonal and writing skills are necessary, including public speaking skills and the ability to present the College and University in a positive way to all populations, particularly those in a rural community. This position requires the ability to travel and to load and transport recruiting materials, displays and other equipment. This position will process all Early Mentoring program applications and act as a contact individual for the participating colleges. This position will assist in the planning and execution of recruiting events including but not limited to the Buckeye Vet Camp and Vet for a Day. The position will also generally support Professional Programs events as needed.

Duties include:

· Coordinate recruiting efforts for Ohio students (particularly those from rural backgrounds), in association with other recruiting staff in the college.

· Assess outcomes of recruiting efforts in coordination with the Director of Admissions and Recruitment.

· Development of recruiting materials in collaboration with the coordinator of educational initiatives for the Rural Veterinary Workforce Program.

· Processing and reviewing applications for primary pool and Veterinary Early Mentoring Program pool alongside admissions committee.

· Supporting recruiting and admissions events under the Direction of the Director of Admissions and Recruitment.

Additional Information:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree Required, 3 years of relevant experience recruiting in a rural background. Strong communication skills including writing and presenting are required.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bilingual, Master’s Degree, Experience in SIS and WebAdmit.

Target Salary Range: $21.35 - $27.88 per hour; commensurate with experience, internal equity, the unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.
