The Assurance Resource Allocation Specialist offers a defined pathway to senior resource management, operations leadership, and broader roles in firm administration. The Assurance Resource Allocation Specialist has a pivotal role within the assurance line of service, dedicated to optimizing the deployment and utilization of resources across our assurance engagements. This position ensures that audit teams are staffed effectively, balancing client deadlines, staff skills and development, regulatory requirements, and business goals to deliver high-quality assurance services with maximum efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Resource Planning and Allocation:

Assess current and upcoming audit engagement requirements to forecast staff needs on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis.

Coordinate with audit managers and partners to allocate resources based on project complexity, client risk profile, and individual competencies.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Act as the liaison between audit teams, CR ASR, HR, and leadership for all matters related to staff deployment and allocation/reallocation.

Proactively engage with the Markets and Quality teams to anticipate resource requirements for new client proposals and regulatory changes.

Operational Efficiency:

Identify and address resource booking clashes, overallocations, or underutilizations to ensure timely engagement completion, completion of functional tasks and optimal sharing of workload.

Develop, document, and refine standard operating procedures for the resource allocation process using all available digital tools in the assurance practice.

Data-Driven Decision Making:

Utilize audit management and resource planning systems (TalentLink) to monitor utilization rates and engagement progress.

Prepare regular reports on resource allocation, highlighting trends, gaps, and recommendations for improvement to senior management.

Prepare monthly reports on resource metrics such as overtime, missing time, sick and utilization to determine trends in staff performance.

Engage with leaders on the output of monthly reports to ensure the necessary remediation actions are taken to correct trends/issues.

Collaboration and Cross-Functional Alignment:

Lead periodic meetings with team leads to ensure alignment on engagement priorities and booking schedules/requirements.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation:

Monitor industry best practices in resource management to improve the firm’s processes and outcomes.

Champion a culture of feedback, learning, and adaptability within the resource allocation team and broader assurance department.

Minimum years experience required

Bachelor's degree in accounting, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field.

2+ years of experience in resource management, audit scheduling, or operations within a professional services or public accounting firm.

Strong understanding of audit methodologies, regulatory requirements, and peak period workload management.

Proficiency with resource planning and audit workflow tools would be an asset.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the firm.

Analytical mindset with a knack for problem-solving and making data-driven decisions.

Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
