Have you got experience of maintenance work in a busy, bustling environment? If so then this might be the job for you!

Calshot Activities Centre is a unique outdoor education facility and visitor attraction in the New Forest National Park. Located on a shingle spit at the mouth of Southampton Water, the site has a long and diverse heritage, including a Tudor Castle and Grade 1 and 2 listed buildings. Calshot is perhaps most famous for hosting the 1929 Schneider Trophy flying boat race.

The Role:

This is a great opportunity to join the excellent and established facilities team that manage the buildings, grounds, and equipment of Calshot Activities Centre. This team underpins the customer experience at Calshot and enables our 100,000+ visitors a year to enjoy our whole site, from the café through to the campsite.

The role encompasses both statutory and equipment checks as well as the opportunity to complete projects and take on ownership of different areas.

There are opportunities to contribute to development of innovative ways to increase productivity of the team and to share ideas about future projects.

What you’ll do:

As a FM Assistant, you'll play a key role in maintaining and supporting the day-to-day operations of our site.

Your responsibilities will include routine safety inspections (such as Legionella and fire safety), equipment maintenance, and general building repairs. You'll assist with event setup, grounds maintenance, and reactive tasks across the site. The role also involves campsite warden duties, acting as a fire marshal, and responding to first aid situations.

You'll work closely with the facilities team to support service improvements, prioritise tasks effectively, and ensure health and safety standards are upheld.

What we’re looking for:

We're seeking a proactive and hands-on FM Assistant to carry out a range of site maintenance and support tasks.

Duties include routine inspections (e.g. Legionella, fire safety), equipment maintenance, event setup, grounds upkeep, and general building repairs.

You’ll assist with reactive and cyclical maintenance, support corporate events, and contribute to service improvements.

A flexible approach, ability to prioritise tasks, and awareness of health and safety and equality policies are essential.
