Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities: * Conduct field investigations and perform failure/accident analysis on incidents including train derailments, pedestrian strikes and vehicular impacts at railroad/highway grade crossings * Evaluate rolling stock component related failures * Investigate design, safety and failure of machinery and mechanical systems * Perform calculations, engineering analysis, computer analyses and simulations and technical reporting * Provide technical findings and conclusions in laymen's terms, both verbally and in writing * Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies * Regular and predictable physical presence in the office * Long term goal to become testifying expert * Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performance * Regular and predictable presence at work Position Requirements: * B.S.

and M.S.

in Mechanical Engineering required * P.

E.
