Description
Wheeling University, a Division II institution, is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Assistant for Football to join the coaching staff in the Department of Athletics. This position will provide a hands-on learning experience in the field of collegiate athletics while pursuing a graduate degree. The Graduate Assistant will assist the coaching staff with football operations, recruitment, team management, and other aspects of the program.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Head Coach and Assistant Coaches with daily football operations, including practice planning, team drills, and game preparation.
Help coordinate video analysis, including breakdowns of games and practices.
Assist with recruiting efforts, including evaluation, communication with prospective student-athletes, and campus visits.
Support team travel arrangements, including transportation, accommodations, and logistics.
Provide support during practices and games, including equipment setup and player supervision.
Assist in the development and implementation of strength and conditioning programs.
Assist in administrative tasks such as maintaining player records and team statistics.
Attend and participate in coaching meetings and professional development sessions.
Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and Athletics Department.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; acceptance into a graduate program at Wheeling University.
Strong passion for collegiate football and a desire to pursue a career in coaching or sports administration.
Previous playing or coaching experience at the high school, college, or club level preferred.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations is a plus.
