The purpose of this class is to perform duties in the design, utilization, support and maintenance of audio-video services and teleconferencing.
Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Supports the daily operation of the countywide audio, video and teleconferencing needs, particularly within the Courts and the County Jail.
Responsible for the recording of Commissioners Court meetings for livestream and on-demand; prepares audio video equipment prior to meetings; sets up and breaks down equipment.
Serves as subject matter expert in coordinating and contracting with third party audio-visual applications, hardware, and services.
Records a variety of special events and activities in the field with setup, operation and breakdown of necessary AV systems.
Logs and transfers all recorded media to a video server; complete video editing and archiving procedures.
Installs, terminates and tests low-voltage cabling for AV and network infrastructure.
Supports end users in the use of their audio, video and teleconferencing needs.
Maintains and manages the County's adopted teleconferencing platforms.
Maintains audio-visual equipment; identifies repair needs; recommends purchases and upgrades.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure AV installations meet client requirements and project specifications.
Answers phone calls, emails, and tickets from users regarding new services or technical issues. Troubleshoots problem areas in a timely fashion. Provides new services in accordance with departmental procedure. Accurately logs issues, troubleshooting steps, correspondence and resolutions within the ticketing system.
Spearheads the conversion of the County's AV systems to modern, digital platforms which are able to be utilized and supported by other technical staff as necessary.
Maintains and updates system documentation, schematics, configurations and access control for all AV-related platforms.
Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires high school diploma or GED.
Requires four years of experience in audio video engineering, multi-media production or closely related experience at a large organization level.
Working knowledge of various types of AV controls and DSP platforms.
Familiarity with video/audio switching, device interoperability and AV signal flow required.
Experience with AV/network cabling.
Ability to understand and interpret AV system drawings.
Excellent communication and organizational abilities, including the ability to work directly with department heads and elected officials.

The work is typically performed sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.
