1. POST CONTEXT
NATO nations have chosen to acquire a wide area ground surveillance asset based on a High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) Remotely Piloted Vehicle (RPV). The system chosen is based on a uniquely designed RQ4-4D (Global Hawk) with the Multi-Platform Radar Technology Insertion Programme (MP-RTIP) as the primary sensor, a ground segment including deployable assets, and a supporting communications architecture dedicated to filling some of NATO'S Joint Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (JISR) needs.
The SW is responsible for critical support functions and activities to maintain operational readiness in NISRF.
The Communication and Information Systems Squadron executes maintenance and troubleshooting of all organic CIS capabilities and assets in the MOB and in deployed locations with a 24/7 approach.
The Communication and Information Systems Technology Branch providing all necessary user support regarding to all system administrations and internal networks.
The section is responsible for the administration and maintenance of all Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Core and capabilities not delivered at hand-over server and client architecture and the user administration in all these systems.
Provides engineering level support for ISR systems administration and software maintenance.
The Senior Technician reports to OGS SCIC 0010 - Section Head (System Administration) - OR-8
2. DUTIES
The incumbent's duties are:
Supports the System Administration team responsible for ISR system administration and software maintenance.
Supports users with regards to rights and roles distribution and software issues.
Supports Exploitation Systems team in the maintenance of the exploitation systems.
Acts as trainer with regards to the System Administration specific features for the NISRF Training Center.
The employee may be required to perform a similar range of duties elsewhere within the organisation at the same grade without there being any change to the contract
The incumbent may be required to undertake deployments in support of military operations and exercises, and/or TDY assignments, both within and without NATO boundaries. Such operational deployment may exceed 30 days duration up to 183 days in any period of 547 days, and may be on short notice. For NATO International Civilian Staff, acceptance of an employment contract linked to this post constitutes agreement to deploy in excess of 30 days if required.
The employee may be required to perform a similar range of duties elsewhere within the organisation at the same grade without there being any change to the contract.
The incumbent may be required to perform like duties elsewhere within the organisation as directed.
The incumbent is required to undertake operation deployments and/or TDY assignments both within and without NATO's boundaries.
The work is normally performed in a Operational Airbase with possible access to runways aircraft hard standing areas.
Normal Working Conditions apply.
The risk of injury is categorised as No Risk.
The work is normally performed in Shifts.
3. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL
Higher Secondary education and intermediate vocational training which might lead to a formal qualification with 2 years experience, or Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 4 years post related experience
Deeper knowledge of server/client installations and virtual environments and be knowledgeable with regards to IP-based networks.
Experience with LINUX systems.
Experience assisting in database administration.
Must have an English Standard Language Proficiency level of “professional” in Listening, Reading and "functional" in Speaking and Writing (SLP 3322 based on NATO standards).

5. CONTRACT
The successful candidate will receive a three-year definite duration contract which may be followed by an indefinite duration contract. NATO-serving staff members will be offered a contract in accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Regulations (NCPRs).
The basic entry-level monthly salary for a NATO Grade G10 in Italy is Euro 4,041.51 which may be augmented by allowances based on the selected staff member’s eligibility, and which is subject to the withholding of approximately 20% for pension and medical insurance contributions.
