ICU Registered Nurse Job Details

Position: ICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing

Location: Pikeville, Kentucky 41501 (Eastern Kentucky healthcare jobs)

Facility: 3 May Critical Care Unit

Employment Type: Travel Nurse Contract

Start Date: November 17, 2025

End Date: January 10, 2026

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour night shifts)

Hours per Week: 48 guaranteed

Contract Duration: 8 weeks

Estimated Weekly Salary: $1780 - $1910

ICU RN Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Kentucky or compact state)

Minimum 1 year of recent ICU nursing experience (5 years preferred)

Prior travel nursing experience required

ACLS certification (required within 90 days of hire)

NIH Stroke Scale certification (required within 90 days of hire)

EKG proficiency

TNCC certification preferred

ICU Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver direct, professional nursing care to critically ill patients of all ages

Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing re-assessments

Manage airway, pain, cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, gastrointestinal, pulmonary, and renal care in a critical care setting

Administer medications, specialized IV drips, blood transfusions, and sedation as ordered

Monitor and document patient conditions, treatments, and responses in the electronic health record

Operate and troubleshoot advanced ICU equipment for critically ill patients

Respond to Code Blue and other emergency situations

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams and involve families in care planning

Supervise and mentor other healthcare staff, including new nurses and support personnel

Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing clinical education

Comply with infection control, patient safety, and hospital policies
