What You'll Do:
The Ohio Department of Health's Center for Public Health Excellence focuses on systems changes to eliminate population-level disparities in Ohio through strategies intended to:
Elevate and align cross-functional resources to address the social determinants of health,
Ensure that elimination of population-level health disparities is a pillar in Ohio’s public health system and improve clinical experiences for minorities, people with disabilities, and other underserved populations

Collaborate with Primary Care Office program coordinators on key initiatives including the State Loan Repayment Program, National Health Service Corps, and the J-1 Visa Waiver Program.
Prepare Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) and Medically Underserved Area applications for federal review through the federal Shortage Designation Management System.
Assist in the development and regular updates of the Statewide Rational Service Area plan and Statewide Primary Care Needs Assessment.
Provide technical assistance and ongoing support to clinicians seeking placement in Ohio and to healthcare sites focused on recruitment and retention.
Develop communication and outreach materials, including fact sheets, application forms, and website content. Deliver presentations on practice opportunities and recruitment/retention programs to students, healthcare professionals, and community organizations.
Support the design and implementation of workforce recruitment and retention strategies, including identifying potential funding sources, recommending policy or legislative changes, and collaborating with state and local partners (e.g., agencies, professional associations, nonprofits) to address unmet health care needs of underserved Ohioans.
Assist with Rural Health Transformation Program initiatives by connecting rural communities with resources to support workforce development, infrastructure enhancement, and strategic partnerships.
Provide technical support for HPSA-related activities, particularly as they relate to healthcare provider recruitment and retention efforts.
Position Qualifications:
Completion of undergraduate core program in social or behavioral science, health or pre-medicine or comparable field; 18 mos. exp. in delivery of human services, health care services or medical assistance in governmental, community or private human support services agency or medical provider.
-Or completion of graduate core program in social or behavioral science or medicine-related or comparable field; 6 mos. exp. in delivery of human services, health care services or medical assistance in governmental, community or private human support services agency or medical provider.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Bachelor's or advanced degree related to social or behavioral sciences, health or pre-medicine
Experience in planning, implementing and evaluating a health program
Experience providing consultation and technical assistance to local agencies
Experience facilitating meetings for boards or committees
Experience planning meetings or conferences
Experience in grant writing
Experience in developing and presenting training material
Experience working with Requests for Proposal, Memorandums of Understanding or contracts
Experience working with vendors to carry out contract deliverables
Experience with computer software (e.g., Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint)
