Ice Technician

Location: Rexburg, Idaho

Position Type: Full-Time/Part-Time

Hourly Rate: $15 - $20 (based on experience)

Reports To: Operations Manager/General Manager

The Neutral Zone is a premier ice rink dedicated to providing exceptional skating experiences to the Rexburg community. We host a variety of events, including public skating sessions, hockey leagues, figure skating, and private functions. Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Ice Technician to help maintain our rink’s ice surface and support the daily operations of the facility. This role is vital to ensuring the safety, quality, and functionality of the rink. The Ice Technician will be responsible for operating the Zamboni, monitoring and maintaining ice conditions, performing light facility maintenance, and occasionally supervising the rink during public skating hours. This position involves both independent and team-based work and is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on, behind-the-scenes work in a fast-paced, community-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities

● Operate the Zamboni for scheduled and as-needed ice resurfacing

● Assess and repair ice conditions; monitor ice thickness and temperature

● Perform and report routine maintenance on the Zamboni to ensure safe operation

● Monitor the rink during public skating sessions (skate duty), assist guests, and maintain a safe environment on & off the ice

● Support general facility upkeep, including basic maintenance, cleaning, and snow removal

● Lift and transport items up to 25 pounds as needed

● Communicate rink and equipment needs to management and work collaboratively with the team

● Uphold safety standards and contribute to a clean, professional atmosphere

Qualifications

● Previous experience operating a Zamboni or similar equipment is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate

● Comfortable working in cold environments and around large crowds

● Must know how to ice skate or be willing and able to learn

● Strong attention to detail with the ability to assess ice wear and tear

● Capable of performing physical tasks such as lifting, shoveling, and climbing

● Good communication and teamwork skills

● Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
